The sun is shining, a fresh breeze is blowing strands of hair across your forehead and you breathe in a deep taste of summer air. What a beautiful day! These kinds of days are filled with words of thanks – thank you Jesus for the sunshine, the clear skies, the wild flowers that line country fields, and the laughter of kids playing in the city. Do you find your prayers are generally filled with requests and thanks for events, people, and places that surround you? Is it hard to focus on anything outside of your life, home, city, etc.?
In James 5:13-19, we are reminded that in any time of need, joy, sorrow, or rejoicing, we must bring everything to God in prayer. But our prayers should not be limited to what is happening in our lives, our homes, our communities – they should spread beyond ourselves and the world we’re familiar with.
Prayer is an intimate time spent with God to express our personal needs, desires, gratitude, but it is also a time we can invite our brothers and sisters across the world into the throne room before our Heavenly Father.
Join us for a season of prayer by bringing your brothers and sisters in Christ to God in prayer. Be a leader. One way to do this is to help girls of your church and community start a prayer group. At each meeting, dedicate your time toward praying for a specific country. What better way to teach girls about the importance of prayer than to come along side and be an example?
