Give a Child Fresh Water

Description

Life is good for these children in Gashora village, Rwanda. One big reason -- the community well.

The old water source for the village had “tadpoles, snakes, and other contaminants,” says Damascene Rwajekare. Villagers, especially children, used to get “stomach worms, cholera, diarrhea, and different kinds of diseases," he says.

Those days are over since the community well drilling team – trained and equipped by World Vision -- brought fresh water for drinking, bathing, cooking and washing clothes.

"My children look beautiful and good," says Angelique Hakurinka, a driller. "And I look beautiful too."

Every day nearly 1,000 children under age 5 die because of unsafe water, poor sanitation and hygiene.

But with the help of child sponsors and donors, World Vision brings safe water to one more person every 30 seconds.
