Giant Killer

Description

Preparing to fight for our marriage is less about conventional wisdom and tips from your friends, and more about developing a dynamic relationship with Jesus.

Read: 1 Samuel 17 & 2 Corinthians 10:4

The giants we face in our marriages have names like Finances, Rebellion, Unforgiveness, Temptation and Worry. Although the world offers supermarket tabloid solutions, true answers come from God.

Little David realized he could not use the spear, javelin, shield or armor available to him to beat Goliath. Instead, he picked up five smooth stones from the brook to use in his sling. David’s confidence didn’t come from his weapons but from the divine power on his side.

The same Spirit that helped David is available to us in our marriages. David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty.”

What if we attacked the issues in our marriage with the same confidence in God? We must first be convinced in our own minds that the giants we face are no match for the divine power that lives in us through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Because He lives in us, we can approach giants with David’s victorious attitude.

Preparing to fight for our marriage is less about conventional marriage wisdom and tips from your friends, and more about developing a dynamic relationship with Jesus. Jesus is bigger than any giant we will ever face.
