Get Wisdom

Karen Stubbs offers moms advice on how to seek godly wisdom for raising their children.

Proverbs 4:5

Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them.

Most moms want to be wise, but most moms feel as if they never get close to gaining wisdom. We want to be wise in how we parent our children, interpret situations, and even wise when we give advice to our children. If you want to be wise, you as a woman must seek wisdom. Wisdom- true Godly wisdom- will not just happen, it must be sought after like you would seek after the perfect outfit to wear.

One way to attain wisdom is to ask God (James 1:5). God promises that if we ask for wisdom, He will give it and give it abundantly. Another way to gain wisdom is to seek wise counsel by someone older and wiser than you- someone that walks with the Lord and in whom the fruits of the Spirit are evident. Whether that person is your own mom, a dear friend, or a pastor…make sure you have people in your life that can offer sound counsel and Godly wisdom. We also gain wisdom in reading God’s word, the Bible. The Bible is full of wisdom and God’s teaching. God’s wisdom is above man’s wisdom; therefore you will not find God’s wisdom in the world- you must seek after it.  The final step in becoming wise is to obey what you learn.  It’s not enough to learn and then walk away and do what you want. You must put into practice what you learn. If you ask, seek wise counsel and read God’s word and then putting that learning into practice, you will grow wise.

Thank You for creating a way for me to become wise. Lord, I want to be a wise mom. I am asking You right now for wisdom and I am asking that You send wise people into my life to pour into me. I pray I will accept wisdom and then practice what I learn…leaning into You always.
