Get to Work

Description

Whatever work you are doing, don’t quit. Get to work. Finish the job God has called you to do. Enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done! Then give God the glory!

So the wall was completed … in fifty-two days.
When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our GodNEHEMIAH 6:15–16.

God has built in us the capacity for tremendous satisfaction in work. Not only in finishing the work but in doing it well. One reason why unemployment is so devastating is that when you’re out of work, you’re denied the satisfaction work can bring. So don’t be afraid of hard work. And don’t quit a job before it’s finished because it seems too hard or because you lose interest or because you get a better offer somewhere else.

Genesis 1 and 2 speak about God’s work of creation: “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good… . God finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested” (1:31, 2:2). The completed work not only brought Him satisfaction; it also brought Him glory. When you quit a job before you’re finished, you miss out on the satisfaction that comes with the completion and rob God of His glory.

Whatever work you are doing, don’t quit. Get to work. Finish the job God has called you to do. Enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done! Then give God the glory!
