Gentle Shepherd

Description

Karen Stubbs shares practical ways you can spend time with God, even with a busy schedule.

Isaiah 40:11

He gently leads those that have young.

When you are a mom, you do not have a ton of time to get into deep Bible studies or lengthy prayer times. So what is a mom to do? Quit reading the Bible? No! Quit praying to God because that takes too much time? No! We just need to change our expectations and adjust them to our new hectic life style.

The good news is that we serve a loving God who understands exactly where we are in life. Just because your life is busy with taking care of your family, doesn’t mean you are too busy to stay connected to your Heavenly Father. We need God during this season of our life, more than ever. Think about it, when you get busy you don’t stop talking to your husband. You may have to be more intentional about scheduling a date night, but you try to keep that relationship going. It’s the same with God.

Try these tips:

  • Have conversations with God throughout your day, not just at night when you are falling asleep in your bed. Invite God into your daily routine- while you are making lunches, driving the carpool line, shopping, cleaning your house.
  • Throughout your day when you are feeling yourself become stressed, tell God about it, give him all your burdens that you are carrying.
  • Focus on one verse a day or one verse a week. Write it on a sticky note and put it beside your sink and read it as you do dishes.
  • If you miss a day or two, don’t feel guilty, remember God understands.

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for Your loving patience and mercy with me always.  What a relief to know that You will gently guide me because I have young children.  I don’t feel like anyone gently guides me anywhere— but it is such a comfort to know that You do.  Thank you!  I want to seek You throughout my day— gently remind me when I forget.  IF I do forget, please know that I love you!
