Fulfillment in God
I accepted Christ into my life when I was pretty young (the third grade to be exact). I grew up in a Christian home and have been very blessed to have such great parents and family. I was raised going to church and from the time I was born had been hearing about Jesus and all the things that He has done for us. My pastor at First Baptist Church Katy, Dr. Wisdom, came to my house one night to talk to me and my sister. I had talked to my parents about becoming a Christian and so they thought it was a good idea to bring the pastor over and have him share a few things with me so I knew that it was what I wanted to do. I said a prayer and accepted Jesus into my life right then.
A lot of people have a story with a huge turning point in their lives that made them want to change or find some kind of meaning in life. That is not how it has been for me. My parents did a great job of raising my brother, sister and me in a Christian home and they have been a great example for me throughout my life. Although I never had an elaborate turning point in my story, there have been times in my life that I felt the need to turn things over to God. I have had struggles throughout my life and am so thankful to have Jesus Christ to turn everything over to. God is in control. When I turn my pain, sadness and stresses over to Him, instead of worrying about them, I find I live a much happier life.
One thing I have realized when growing in my faith is that I can’t be passive in my relationship with God. It is truly a relationship and I need to keep up with it. God has given us prayer. I can talk to God at any time. That is a special thing to be able to talk to the creator of the universe whenever I want. He wants me to tell Him my feelings, goals, wants, and more. All He wants is just to spend some time with me. He has also given us the Bible to help teach us. There are so many stories and lessons to be learned from just picking up the Bible and taking some time to read it. I feel truly blessed to be in the position I am in today. I know I wouldn’t be where I am without God’s help. He has provided me with so much and I am so thankful. To see what He has done—not only for me, but for my team and others around us—has been unbelievable. There has been hard work involved, but nothing would have happened without Christ.
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time.” 1 Peter 5:6
