One-year-old Friday is malnourished, with the characteristic swollen belly. His mother, Charity, has been told to buy him more nutritious food, but the family can’t afford it.
Due to unpredictable rainfall in Zambia, the lean period is getting longer and families are harvesting early to stave off hunger. This means they are harvesting younger, smaller, less nutritious crops. Last year the problem was compounded when fields were destroyed by army worms. Small landholders throughout the area are struggling to harvest enough food for their families, and have none left to sell.
Psalm 138:6 “Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly…”
Pray that those who hunger may be fed.
