Do not exchange your freedom for anything or anyone because it costs much too much. In fact, Jesus paid for your freedom and mine on the cross of Calvary when He said "It is finished." He really meant it! – John 19:30
So, do not trade it for a temporary bowl of lentil soup like Esau did when he lost his legacy to his brother Jacob. Yes, for a moment of pleasing the flesh, he lost everything.
When we dabble in sin, that immoral relationship, that white lie, (no such thing)... when we bend the rules ever so slightly, when we steal... then we forfeit our freedom.
How? you might well ask. Well, once the devil gets his foot in the door, he does not stop there. For example, that so-called innocent relationship with that married person ends up in adultery. That small lie has to be followed up with a bigger lie, (you better have a good memory) and then eventually you get caught out. When you start breaking the rules, where do you stop? And so on
Jesus said , “If the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed”. – John 8:36
If you want peace of mind, joy unspeakable, peace, and to be able to fly free just as the African Fish Eagle, then flee from sin do not negotiate with that lion. Don’t play with it, and do not feed it because he will kill you. – 1 Peter 5:8
As you read this message, if you are caught in the snare of the devil and you feel completely trapped, then take heart, my dear friend, for there is a way out. Quite simply, stop it, confess your sin to God, and then move on into victory! – 1 John 1:9
You say, “I can’t; I’m in too deep." But God says you must. Otherwise, there is no way out and He cannot help you. Remember, eventually your sin will find you out.
There is nothing on this earth that is worth giving up your God-given “freedom” for. Nothing.
My prayer is Please, Jesus, give us the courage to confront the sin that is holding us back from freedom. Help us to deal with that sin once and for all through the blood of Jesus.
Let us stop simply existing and start living that abundant life God wants for each one of us – John 10:10
