Fragile Life

Mariam’s grandmother stays by her side as the young girl receives treatment at a World Vision Cholera Treatment Center in Somalia.

Mariam fell ill suddenly with acute watery diarrhea. She is among thousands of people in Somalia’s southwestern Bay region who fled drought and hunger in rural areas in search of food, water, health services.

Displaced families need shelter, blankets, water containers, mosquito nets, and soap, as well as medical care.

Cases of diarrhea and cholera are on the rise in southwest Somalia and have resulted in many deaths among people who don’t receive treatment.
