Fortify Yourself in Scripture
Description
“This was in accordance with the eternal purpose that he has carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have access to God in boldness and confidence through faith in him.” Ephesians 3:11–12 (nrsv)
I have so much doubt sometimes—about God, about myself, about my salvation. It happens in weak moments, when I’m tired, when I’ve heard too much negativity and pessimism, when I’ve surrounded myself too long with those who don’t know the Lord. Then there is bleakness in my thoughts, hopelessness, despondency and fear. Then I pray for help not to open my mind to Satan’s lies or to rumor or scandal, to trivial nonsense, to the inane and insignificant. My life can’t be strong and uplifting when my mind has sunk into the pit. It is then that I must look upward and pay attention to the Lord. His desire is to redeem my sinful self.
The more time I spend in the Word, the more He reveals to me and the more I understand. Life is too complicated to live without instruction! And the directives are in His Word.
FAITH STEP: Just like you plan for a fire emergency, make a plan for the times doubt strikes. Spend time fortifying yourself in Scripture today.
