Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith…
There is so much to do in a mom’s world— the list is like your laundry… never ending. No wonder we burn the midnight oil on projects that should have been finished a month ago or wake up in the middle of the night thinking about the next day’s events. We are easily distracted by one “emergency” after another. How in the world do we stay focused? How in the world do we tell one child we cannot listen to their complaint because we are listening to their sibling’s problem? Do children understand you can only do one thing at a time? NO!
As a mom, we must focus, or we will surely get lost in the black hole of “mommy world.” Where do we put our focus? The ever-changing world in which we live doesn’t seem like the right thing to focus on, since one minute you are a hero and the next you are a zero. Do we put our focus on our friends, family, or the church? Our only focus should be Jesus— He is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow. Jesus can calm the storm, heal the sick, and bring peace and comfort… Jesus is the answer. Jesus should be the rock that we anchor ourselves to and we do not need to let go. Through Jesus, we will survive this crazy, awesome, sometimes scary ride of motherhood. Fix your eyes on Him, as a ballerina fixes her eyes on a focal point when she spins, to not become dizzy. Jesus should be our focal point in our hectic, busy life.
Father, Teach me how to stay focused on Jesus. My desire is to do so, but my job as a mom, tends to distract me from You. I pray You will teach me how to do both: to stay focused on Christ, while I do my job as a mom. I know it can be done, but only through You. You are my teacher and I your student. Teach me— I am ready and willing to learn.
