Flowing Freely

Description

Let the water of the Holy Spirit flow into you and through you and into the lives of others. Confess and remove whatever is hindering the free flow of the Spirit in your life. Ask Him to fill you until you overflow!

Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. PSALM 51:2

My mother ran a pipe into the mountainside where a spring flows near my parents’ home. She put a wooden bucket under the pipe and a tin cup beside the pipe. When I hiked up the mountain, I’d stop for a drink. Sometimes the bucket would be half filled with stagnant water because something was blocking the pipe, stopping the water. Then Mother would run a stick through the pipe to dislodge whatever was stuck. And the water flowed freely once more!

Our lives are like the bucket. The Holy Spirit flows into our lives, and the only thing that restricts His filling us is our sin. The blockage has to be removed by confessing that sin so we’re cleansed and the water can flow again and fruit can be borne.

The Bible commands us to “be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18). Let the water of the Holy Spirit flow into you and through you and into the lives of others. Confess and remove whatever is hindering the free flow of the Spirit in your life. Ask Him to fill you until you overflow!
