The Orthodox Church has been rebuilding its influence in Albania since 1991. World Vision has helped with training teachers and providing materials for children.
“We’re targeting kids because they are the new generation,” says Athina Zharkalli, project coordinator for youth Bible training. “We want them to learn about God’s love and their religious roots, but at the same time, we’re aiming at parents.”
“I teach the youngest groups—6 years old. Just recently we had a new book published, God Has Created me with Love. When I finally got the books for the youngest kids, they were so excited,” she says.
