Find Your Passion

When we affirm and give our God-given gifts, talents, hopes and dreams a voice or expression in our work life, then and only then can be bring true honor and glory to God.

“For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus,[born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].” (Ephesians 2:10, AMP)

Have you discovered your God-given passion and calling? On a daily basis as a Career Coach, I faced the reality that over half the workforce goes to jobs every day that they hate! I have met many people over the years that hate their jobs and live for weekends and vacations. This is not God’s way. Work is part of God’s original plan for man and when we work God’s way, our work becomes a form of worship and a way for us to honor and acknowledge God.

As Director of a Jobs Ministry for a large church here in Houston, I found that the most popular and requested workshop was, “Find Your Passion.” In the session, I explained that God planted unique gifts, interests, talents, skills and abilities in us while we were in our mother’s womb. We must acknowledge them and let them out. When we affirm and give our God-given gifts, talents, hopes and dreams a voice or expression in our work life, then and only then can we bring true honor and glory to God.

I have observed that many people will work really hard to help someone they care about achieve their dreams while they walk in fear and ignore their own. Too often, people let significant others – parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, teachers or coaches  talk them out of pursuing their dreams and passions.

Child of God, what passions (dreams) have you held onto since childhood that you need to affirm and let out! Do not believe Satan’s lies or listen to the negative feedback from others close to you. Remember, Abraham had to leave his family and friends and go to a new place where he could only hear the voice of God. I encourage you to step out in faith and become the man or woman that God intended you to be.

Lord, thank You for Your gifts to me. I know that I am special, unique and wonderfully made. Help me to discover and walk out the passions and gifts that You have given me. Help me hear Your voice and be who You created me to be so that I might bring You honor and glory in all I do. Through the blood of Jesus and in the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
