The Lord watches over the alien and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but He frustrates the ways of the wicked.
If you are a single mom, you can feel all the weight of this heavy world on your shoulders 24/7. For you, there is no one to share the load. You must do it all: the financial provision, the bill paying, the car -pooling, the stress of raising children, grocery shopping, PTA, all of it. Where other moms may have the privilege of deciding whether or not their children will ride the bus or be car-pooled, your choice is simple…the bus. You don’t have the luxury of deciding- the bus is probably your only option. Do you feel over-whelmed and hopeless? Do you feel as if you may not be enough for your child?
God is with you. He will take care of you, the widow, and your children, the fatherless. Your husband may not have literally died, but he is no longer with you, providing for you, supporting you, and he is no longer a father living in the home for your children. God will fill in the gap. God will watch over you- He promises you that He will. Trust Him. When you feel so overwhelmed and defeated, cry out to God and ask Him for His help.
For those moms reading this devotional today and you are not a single mom…your homework today is to buy a cup of coffee, a flower, make a meal, offer to car-pool a child of a single mom. Who knows, you could be THE answered prayer a single mom lifted up today!
You will meet ALL my needs, even the need of desiring a husband and a father for my children. God, I know You will be the father to my precious child and the helpmate for me. Help me never to doubt that, and never forget that. With You alone, I will survive and thrive in my role as a mom.
