Family Night Ideas: Free Gifts!
Description
Matthew 10:8. Freely you have received, therefore freely give.
First, make five “calling cards” for each person. Then ask each everyone to think of ways they can give to other members of the family. You might clean the kitchen for mom or wash the car for dad. Kids might leave a sister a mint and special note on her pillow. Teenagers might lend their brother the shirt you know he likes. Make a list of ways to give to each person in the family and then… plan to give those gifts during the month.
Each time that an individual gives to another person in the family, they leave behind their “calling card.” Your calling card might say things like, “Because God has so generously given to me, here’s your free gift of _____________.” Or for younger kids, “Here’s your free gift! I love you!”
The element of surprise is always best, but by the end of the month each person should have delivered all five calling cards and their special gifts. As a closing discussion, you might want to reveal who delivered each gift and express appreciation to one another. Discuss the positive feelings you experienced and then be sure to thank God for His free gifts!
