Jesus faced opposition as He tried to influence the existing leadership system. Where did He find the stamina to keep going? He kept His eyes on the goal and maintained a close relationship with the Father. He evaluated changes, and the energy it would take to accomplish them, in light of how the results would accomplish God’s purposes. What changes are you facing today? How can you respond so that God’s purposes are accomplished in your life and in the lives of those around you?
"Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name!" Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again."—John 12:27-28
Prayer: Father, it helps me to hear Jesus’ words when His heart was troubled. Sometimes my heart is troubled, too, as a leader; yet Jesus’ words teach me to look to You and step forward in faith to lead. Keep me focused on accomplishing Your purposes, no matter what circumstances I am facing. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
