Experiencing Life in Our New Natures

While it may seem unbelievable that we have whole new natures, it's clear that we still have to “live life” each day. How do we do that?

While it may seem unbelievable that we have whole new natures, it also is clear that we still have to “live life” each day. How do we do that? We have the opportunity to experience life in a number of dimensions:

Experiencing Life in Our New Natures:

We live our lives in Christ

"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." (I John 5:11-12)

We claim our position in Christ

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.(Romans 6:6-9)

Position in Christ-Promise-claim it, command-obey it, fact-believe it. Our position in Christ is a knowledge to claim and believe, not an experience to feel

We are made alive with the Spirit in Christ

“But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” (Romans 8:10-11)

We battle sin in Christ

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer ourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. (Romans 6:12-13)

When you come to Christ, you exchange natures. God changes your life from darkness to life. But, sin can still happen. In our mortal bodies, but not in “us”.  “Us” is not corruptible. God will not make you walk in the Spirit, and the devil can’t make you walk in the flesh, although he will certainly try to draw you in that direction!

We become mature in Christ

“We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.” (Colossians 1:28)

Here’s a “Whole Lotta Life”!!

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (Colossians 2:6-7)
