Exodus 5

Description

A tour of Exodus 5 with Ken Boa.

As the Lord had predicted, Pharaoh rejected Moses’ request and denied the Lord (“Who is the Lord that I should obey His voice to let Israel go?”). As a result, matters turned even worse for the children of Israel, since Pharaoh, accusing them of being lazy, now mandated that they must gather their own straw without reducing the daily quota of bricks. This naturally made Moses odious in his own people’s sight; far from delivering them from their bondage, he had actually increased it  It is therefore not surprising that Moses complained to the Lord and wanted to resign his divine commission.

Reading of Exodus 5

Prayer: Lord, I know that when You show Your people a new thing, You test them to see what is in their hearts. Teach me to look to You alone as my source of provision in all things, and not to put my hope in people, possessions, or circumstances to deliver me.

Meditation passage for today: verses 22-23
