Jesus tells us that if we hunger and thirst for righteousness, He will give us a right standing with God.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6

When we delight in God, He will fill the desires of our heart (Psalms 37:4). What better desire than to hunger and thirst for righteousness or excellence in our life? Think about what this would look like in your life as a mom. To hunger after an excellent life, a healthy and happy marriage, a great relationship with your children, and being able to work alongside others without strife. Who wouldn’t want that kind of life?

Jesus tells us in Matthew that if we hunger and thirst for righteousness, He will give us righteousness, or a right standing with God. In order for this to happen, I must put all my focus on my Heavenly Father, and not on the worldly things around me—the things that tug and pull at my attention all the time.

In order to refocus our attention on God, we must discipline ourselves. As you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, make a conscious effort to submit your thoughts to God and ask Him to meet your needs. It will take practice, but it will be worth it in the end.

Father, thank You Lord that you will fill my life with righteousness. Thank You for that promise that You have given me in the Bible. God, the pressures of this world at times feel so great, and I struggle to try and “fix” my life the way I see fit. I commit today to start hungering and thirsting after You. You alone will fill my every need.
