Everything We Need
Galatians 5:19 (NIV®)
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious.
This is a rather direct statement. In our culture the acts of the sinful nature may be apparent, but we are told repeatedly they’re not obvious. In fact, the great clashes in our culture these days are over saying something is sinful. If you say there is such a thing as sin, there is a group of people ready to respond with, “Who says?” And our answer is, “God says.” Scripture says that all of us—even Bible-carrying, church-attending, prayer-praying people—have a tendency toward ungodliness. But the tendency is no excuse to indulge those desires because we have everything we need to live a life that pleases God—His Word to instruct us, His Son’s example to follow, and His Spirit to guide us.
Heavenly Father, I come before You acknowledging my sinful nature and my struggles with ungodliness. Thank You for all the ways You have provided a way for me. Thank You for the salvation You have provided for me through Your Son. Thank You for sending Him as a man to live among us, so that we would have His example to follow. Thank You for Your Word that lights my path. Thank You for Your Spirit, who guides my steps. You are a great God and greatly to be praised! In Jesus’ name, amen.
