Everything Going Wrong?
For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me. (Psalm 40:12 NIV)
Whew! I'm glad that day is over! Don't know if I could survive another one like that!
Ever have "one of those days" like the one I describe above?
Today started that way for me. I had an early morning meeting. I rushed to get one child to school, then headed to the meeting. My wife's car wouldn't start, so I had to rush to take my other child to school. I didn't have jumper cables, so I had to rush to my work to get them. I got to my house and a toilet was overflowing, so I rushed to fix it.
I had a major situation at work, so I rushed to get to the phone to handle it. I got the car started, my wife headed out, and I had to rush to the radio program I co-host, of which I was late. As soon as I got to the radio station, my wife called me on my car phone to tell me her car had stalled in the middle of an intersection, so I rushed to help her. After I got her started again, we rushed to take the car to the repair shop, then I rushed back to the radio. After the radio, I rushed to work, so I could rush and get some work done.
May I say it again? "Whew, I'm glad that day is over!"
My son made an interesting comment before school, however. He said, "Daddy, why is everything going wrong today?" Instantly, praise God, I sensed God have me say, "Everything is not going wrong, son. In fact, many things are going right." I began to list so many of the blessings we have in our home.
Someone has said life is 10% what happens and 90% how you react. Isn't that true? Life got you down? Your day, week, month, year not going so well? Stop, take a deep breath, and reflect on what is going well! You're alive. You woke up this morning. Your eyes are allowing you to see this computer screen. And, best of all, God is at work, turning things to good. He is building your mansion in Heaven, and from His perspective, everything is going to be okay!
