Everyday Involvement

Description

We could really start changing a lot of things around us if we would invite God to be in our everyday lives.

James 4: 7 & 10

“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and he will come near to you. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”

As I was thinking about what verse to focus on this week, I ran across this verse, and it really ministered to my soul. How amazing it is that we can “submit ourselves to God” and “he will come near to us”? I mean, think about it ladies, this is the God of the Universe, the Creator of all things and he will choose to come near to me. That is an overwhelming thought. My prayer is that over this next week we will all keep this verse in the forefront of our minds and ask ourselves, “Am I submitting myself to God right now?”

Wow! I know that if I were to ask myself that question I might change some of my actions throughout the week. For instance, I may not push for my way quite so much with my husband yet submit my pride to God and allow Him to work instead of me trying to manipulate a situation. Or I may not get so angry while I am driving to work and someone cuts me off on the highway; instead of getting angry I will choose to submit to God and love that person just as God loves me.

I can think of several instances, with my children, that if I implemented this verse it would definitely change the way I parent and I imagine I would be a lot more loving and consistent with my actions and words.

Think about it. We could really start changing a lot of things around us if we would invite God to be in our everyday lives. That is worth thinking on for a little while.

I love verse 10, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”  I think that would be pretty awesome to be “lifted up” by God, the Creator of all things. I don’t know about you but I could use that boost in my life!  Isn’t it wonderful to know that we are deeply loved by God and he wants to “draw us near to him”?
