Genesis 17:7-8 (NIV®)
“I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you. The whole land of Canaan, where you now reside as a foreigner, I will give as an everlasting possession to you and your descendants after you; and I will be their God.”
God is a covenant-keeping God. In 1948, on a tiny sliver of land at the end of the Mediterranean, the United Nations gave credibility to the rebirth of the nation of Israel. Jewish people began to come from all over the globe, and today there are more than six million Jews living in the land—over 43% of the world’s Jewish population. They are surrounded by millions of people who are committed to their annihilation, and it’s impossible that they could survive apart from Almighty God. It’s a testimony to the whole earth that God is a covenant-keeping God. If He’ll keep His promise to the descendants of Abraham, He will keep His promises to you and to me.
Heavenly Father, what a privilege it is to see You honor Your covenant with the descendants of Abraham and restore them to their land. You are faithful to keep Your promises, Lord. Thank You that I can trust in Your promises for my life as well. Thank You for Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
