Ephesians 2

Description

A tour of Ephesians 2 with Ken Boa.

Our position in Christ (1-3) lays the foundation for our practice in Christ (4-6). After a prologue, Paul praises the triune God for the work of the Father in choosing us (1:3-6), the Son in redeeming us (1:7-12), and the Spirit for sealing us (1:13-14). This marvelous hymn to God’s grace is followed by a prayer for spiritual illumination in the knowledge of our calling, inheritance, and power (1:15-23). Paul contrasts his readers’ former spiritual condition without Christ with the life and hope that salvation by grace through faith has given them (2:1-10). This redemption includes Jews, yet also extends to Gentiles who previously were “strangers to the covenants of promise.”  In Christ, the two for the first time have become “fellow citizens with the saints” and members of one body (2:11-22).

READING of EPHESIANS 2

Prayer:

Lord, I thank You that it is by grace that we have been saved through faith; and that not of ourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.
