Endowed with Salvation
Take a careful and long look at the Humble [Hebrew word ani: poverty stricken, humble] and Humbled God! Salvation is a remarkable thing. Taking a hopeless guilty confused person, salvation makes the individual a child of God. The Person who does the saving is most remarkable. Salvation is what He does, but who He is, is truly remarkable. Jesus is a God who is humble and is comfortable with being humble. When Scripture predicted the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem on his way to being crucified, it said:
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is just and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. (Zec 9:9)
Amazing misunderstandings are found among Christians about the humility of God. They consider greatness to be an overwhelming display of divine attributes, but in actual fact, the great summation of the divine character and the most vivid display of deity's attributes is the humility of Christ and God the Father.
When we embrace a child, we stoop to scoop the child in our arms. God stooped for us, to embrace us and to cleanse us. Such Heavenly humility should thrill our hearts with pride in such a God!
