Encouragement Is Powerful!
Years ago at our office, we had a board where we wrote down our team members’ mistakes. When one of them made three mistakes, he/she had to bring in croissants for the whole team. It was the “punishment”!
One day, Pastor Paul Goulet was passing through the office and discovered the board where we posted mistakes. He was stunned! He recommended we stop giving “bad grades” on the board right away and strongly encouraged us to do just the opposite.
From that day on, each time a team member did something remarkable, we wrote his/her name on the board of honor! When a name was written three times, we would organize a party in that person’s honor to show him/her how valuable and appreciated she/he was to us! This change radically transformed our work atmosphere, and new expressions appeared in our conversations like, “I appreciate you so much,” “You’re wonderful,” and “Thanks for existing.”
Our society’s mentality very often pushes us to fix our eyes on what is not working. We like to bring up others’ failures in order to appear better, forgetting that our words have creative power. In fact, the Bible declares:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21)
Let’s learn to encourage those who fail in order to lift them up and encourage those who succeed to help them go even further!
We have the ability to change the mentality of our countries. We can breathe life, a new culture, into this world…that of the Kingdom of God, in which everything is possible and each person is loved and valued!
You can become this change agent, so God can use your life in an extraordinary way!
Thanks for existing!
