Dry and Thirsty

Do you know how to relieve your thirst and refresh your spiritual life? Ask for a drink!

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him. JOHN 7:38

In the busyness of responsibility, the demands of family, even the excitement of opportunity, we can find ourselves running on empty.

Then, when we wake up and realize, “I’m so dry and thirsty,” we look closely and see the reason may be traced to one thing: we’re not drinking freely of the Water of Life — God’s Word! Are you neglecting your Bible reading? Rushing through your prayer time? Not listening to the voice of the Lord because you’re just too busy to be still? If so, it’s time to carve out a daily appointment with God so you can confess your sins, read and meditate on His Word, pray, and just drink Him in.

Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water” (John 4:10). So now that you know how to relieve your thirst and refresh your spiritual life … ask for a drink.
