Dressed for Success

Description

Gertrude is ready for school, proudly dressed in her school uniform.

Her mother, Fanny, is so excited for Gertrude start her academic journey; it’s a dream come true.

Less than a year ago, Fanny would not have believed she’d see the day when her daughter would have the uniform, fees, and energy to attend school. With nothing but boiled green mangos to eat, Fanny and her children were starving.

Fanny and her five children were symbols of hunger, poverty and desperation in a rural and remote community in Malawi, short of opportunities.

But now Fanny has a good business making and selling banana fritters. Her children eat regular meals and attend school. She’s bought them new clothes and shoes.
