Don't Waste Your Wilderness
My times are in your hands—PSALM 31:15.
God’s time is perfect. But so often it’s not our perfect time, is it?
I remember how, when my children were small, I felt bound by smallness — clothes, toys, sticky fingerprints, small talk. While I’m convinced nothing is as significant as rearing godly children, I believed life held more.
My wise mother said, “Anne, don’t waste your wilderness years.” She said if one day God called me to serve Him outside my home, I needed to be ready. So I disciplined myself to pray and study my Bible on a daily basis.
I was encouraged by Hosea 2:14, where God promised He would “speak tenderly” to me in the wilderness. And He did. Years later, when God called me out into the world, I was ready.
What about you? What are you doing today to prepare for serving God tomorrow—or whenever He calls you? Remember my mother’s wisdom. Don’t waste your wilderness years!
