Don’t Live Among the Corpses

00:00

Description

If the sleeping Christian stands up, he will discover the reality of Christ's life within as it shines within his heart.

As Paul the apostle wrote about how we should give a worthwhile response to God's wondrous grace, he recognized that some of the Christians were spiritually asleep, continually asleep. He exhorted them to have a resurrection out from among the corpses or the spiritually dead people of this world. When he said this he made an important distinction. On the one hand non-Christians are spiritually dead to God or relationally dead to God. On the other hand, Christians are not spiritually dead but they could be spiritually asleep. They need a spiritual resurrection. The word resurrection in the Greek Bible literally means to stand up; they need to wake up and stand up.

14 For this reason it says, "Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you."

15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise—(Eph 5:14-15).

If the sleeping Christian stands up, he will discover the reality of Christ's life within as it shines within his heart.
