;

Do You Have Peace?

Description

Peace is the result of being justified, which means that your sins have been forgiven and you’ve been made right with God.

Hear

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).

Believe

I recently came across this definition of the biblical word for peace. It is “the tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, fearing nothing from God and consequently content with its earthly lot, whatever it is” (The Complete Word Study Dictionary).

The “tranquil state of the soul and the assurance of salvation.” That’s what we all want.

But how do we get it?

Justification by faith in Jesus is God’s answer. Paul put it this way…

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).

Peace is the result of being justified which means your sins have been forgiven and you’ve been made right with God.

Paul reiterates that point over and over in his letters. Here are two examples:

For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law (Romans 3:28).

…not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— (Philippians 3:9)

Because you have been justified by faith, you are at peace with God. Stand on that truth and you will experience the peace of God and the assurance of your salvation.

Live

Let the truth that you have been justified by your faith in Christ sink deep into your heart.  Stand on that truth and experience the “tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ.”
