Do Not Worry!
Do you worry? If you worry, I am very much like you. I worry about simple things, like what I look like. I worry about high school and how many friends I will have or if I will make the volleyball team. I also worry about bigger things like my faith. Will others judge me for my faith? Or what if someone asks me to defend my faith; will I mess up and not know what to do? The list could go on forever!
In Matthew 6:31-34 God reminds me not to worry: “Don’t ever worry and say, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ Everyone is concerned about these things, and your heavenly Father certainly knows you need all of them. But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you. So don’t ever worry about tomorrow. After all, tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
He says we should not worry about little things such as what we will wear, what we will eat, or what we will drink. We also don’t need to worry about where we will spend eternity. And he will give us the words we need to tell others about our faith too. Share the good news so other people don’t have to worry either.
Dear wonderful Father in heaven, we know that by trusting in you and your promises, you will guide us. Remind us of your promise to help when we worry. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
