Do Not Fear
For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you.
This verse calms my weary soul. The thought that an almighty God, the God of the universe, creator of all, the God who has no beginning and no end, sovereign Lord, all- knowing, all seeing— that very God will take my hand and “help” me. It seems too good to be true! But, it is true. As a mom, fear is always creeping right outside my door. When children are babies we fear they may die in their sleep, we fear they are in pain and we don’t know how to console them. As our children grow, the fears do not stop. We have a fear of them getting hurt physically or emotionally, we fear someone taking them, we fear they will get sick, try drugs or alcohol, get caught up in the wrong crowd, get addicted to pornography. The list is long and full of our worries and fears.
Take heart! The Lord, our God, will take us by the hand and help us. God will guide and direct our path and show us how to navigate these tumultuous roads, as a mom. We must choose to listen to Him, to sit at His feet and gain His wisdom. Through God, our fears will be taken away. In God’s shadow we will find peace. Whatever circumstance you are dealing with today concerning your child, give it to God, allow God to take you by the hand and help you through this fearful, uncertain time.
Father, Thank You that You want to help me, that You don’t expect for me to know what to do as a mom and that You are willing to guide me. So many times I feel uncertain and ill equipped to do my job, but You know exactly what I need to do. I thank You for that assurance. Thank You for Your love and compassion.
