Dig Deep

Description

Dig deep. Seek within yourself the treasure that gives God pleasure.

Dig deep and seek in you the treasure that gives God pleasure.

“The desperate need today is not for a greater number of intelligent people, or gifted people, but for deep people" - Richard Foster, Celebration of Discipline

Are you on the planet for a purpose?
You can know your life’s purpose. You can find your calling. But you have to dig deep - discovering your gifts, exploring your opportunities, and planning your future. Make a commitment to yourself now that you will invest at least 15 minutes alone at the beginning of every day this week to consider "What am I doing here?"

What is in your tool kit?
Take 15 minutes this morning and make a list what tools you have in your kit - knowledge, skills, abilities and personality traits. These tools are what you take from job to job and career to career. And they grow from year to year. In the last couple of minutes of your time alone - hold your kit up to God and pray, "Thank you for these tools. I am willing to travel to any assignment you give me."

What do you love about your job?
Take 15 minutes alone today to make three lists: what do you love about your job; what people, places or things interest you; and what values do you hold as important enough to die for. Then meditate on this thought from the Psalms - "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." Write down your thoughts as you consider - "Am I on the planet for a purpose?"

Educate your gifts
Michael Jordan could jump really high. But until someone taught him how to play basketball, it didn't matter. Take 15 minutes to look through your gift box - abilities, personality, passions and values. Is there any area with high potential that has received low education? What would it mean if you educated that gift?

Is there a vocation calling you?
Invest 15 minutes speed-digging America's deepest database of occupations – ONet online. It won't take long for you to find nuggets that will help you discover the main vein - the vocation that is calling you to a higher purpose.

Setting and getting goals
Take 15 minutes to evaluate the past week and plan the coming week - for yourself, your family, finances and career. In light of a deeper purpose and a higher calling, what do you need to accomplish by when?

Big dreams from God
"Become aware of a personal Dream or calling, then decide to pursue it." If you don't believe God has given you a Big Dream, start asking Him. If He has given you a Big Dream, then start pursuing it now.
