Desire for God
I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.
We desire many things in life. We may desire a new home, car, or job promotion. We desire a wayward child to come home, eight hours of sleep or even a desire to move closer to our family. These desires are not wrong and God longs to give you the desires of your heart— but what if our first desire was for God? Think about how different your life would look if you thought of Him first —going to Him first before calling your best friend or your mom? Your life would be different —your faith in God would deepen and your trust in Him would not be penetrated by the world.
God would love for our desire to be after Him, first. He is looking for those that will throw all caution to the wind and follow Him no matter what the outcome might be. But, God will never force you into a relationship with Him— He will wait patiently for you to come to Him. We almost cannot fathom this type of love that is never ending and unconditional. But, He loves us more than we can imagine and He wants us to love Him in return.
What if you desired God first? Imagine the peace you would have in your life, knowing that someone other than you was sovereign over your life. As you go about your day, try thinking of God first and see how your day may change.
Father, I love You and I desire for You to be number one in my life. I want You to be the first one I think about in the morning when I wake up and the last one I think about when I go to bed. I confess, Lord, that “life” sometimes pushes You to the side. Forgive me for that. Help me, today, to keep You front and center. My desire is for You!
