Conquered by Kindness

Christianity is often very different from what its critics imagine and what its very own followers expect.

Christianity is often much different than what its critics imagine and what its very own followers expect. Christianity is about unabashed kindness—the kind of kindness that can exist unaltered in the face of horrible sin and defilement. This is how God the Father's kindness is described in Romans 2:4... "The riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, are you despising, not knowing that the kindness of God is leading you to a deep change of mind or repentance?"

It is not the terrors of the Law, nor the fear of Hell that Paul says should draw someone to Christ and His Father. It is the kindness of God that should do so. If we are converted by God's kindness, our hearts will be far more open to grow in Christ than if we are converted by stark fear of a judge. But if the world wants no part of kindness, it will face the judge. One of the great misunderstandings that non-believers have is that they think it is sins that get people in trouble with God. It is not that. It is the rejection of great and good kindness.
