Have you ever wanted something you knew you couldn’t afford, but you bought it anyway?

My friend Wendy was addicted to shopping. When she was stressed, she’d buy something. When she was happy, she’d buy something; and when she got married, she brought a lot of debt into her marriage.

For years, she hid her new purchases from her husband. Oh, she loved shopping, but she hated the secrets that kept her from having a close relationship with him and with God.

Wendy told me that the only way she could overcome her addiction was to meet with Jesus each morning and talk to him about her struggle. Over time, He gave her courage to carefully record every purchase and stay within her budget, and now she has a peace that comes from something she could never buy!
