Coming to a Crossroads
“My Father, if it is possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39
Can you imagine what was going through the mind of Jesus just before He was arrested, beaten, and crucified on the cross? Imagine the fear and trembling He must have felt. He had a choice. He could escape the foreseen torture He was about to endure for the sins of people who didn't even love or care for Him. Or, He could choose to trust and obey the will of God.
Jesus was at a crossroads at this point in Scripture. Jesus chose to obey the will of God. It wasn't an easy decision, but He knew it was the only way. Then, when Jesus rose from the grave three days after his death, He experienced the victory of His obedience.
Making the right choices in our own lives is as important as the choice Jesus made. It’s all about our willingness to obey God’s call and directives for our lives. Are you listening, trusting, and obeying God day by day, moment by moment?
Thank Jesus for what He did at the cross. Thank Him for making the way for us to obey, just as He did. Ask God to help you to never compromise the path that He has for you for something else.
Reflect on the Scriptures and teachings from this past week. Apply what you have learned to your life. Keep your eyes on Him. Listen, trust, and obey…and God will reveal the way!
