Close to the Brokenhearted

Are you suffering today with troubles that threaten to overwhelm you?

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners (Isaiah 61:1).

Perhaps the most powerful moment in our New Orleans Just Give Me Jesus arena revival occurred when Sheila Bailey stopped her prayer session to share the love and compassion of Jesus with a hurting woman. The woman had spontaneously come forward, in her brokenness and despair, to the front of the arena filled with thousands of women.

And in that Spirit-filled moment, Sheila reflected a loving Father who’s never too busy or preoccupied to hear your cry, to wrap His arms of love around you, and to give you Fatherly counsel. Psalm 34:18 declares, “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Are you suffering today with troubles that threaten to overwhelm you? Then be assured. He loves you. Go to Him. He hears your cry. You’re not an interruption. You’re His child.
