Clinging to a Dream
Description
Ethiopia’s Kule camp hosts more than 47,000 South Sudanese refugees.
Nyahok looks back on her home in South Sudan with mixed emotions. She knows that conditions have changed for the worse, but she cherishes fond memories of playing in the fields at school and studying in nice classrooms.
“Now all these things have become far off and seem like a day dream,” Nyahok says.
Life has been a struggle in the camp, but Nyahok holds out hope she will someday be a doctor.
World Vision provides access to clean water, runs her school in Kule Camp, and has provided her and 2,000 other refugee students with uniforms, books, backpacks, and writing utensils.
“Despite the challenge of being in exile, World Vision restored my lost dream,” Nyahok says. “I am working hard in my education so that I can realize my dream, no matter how tough it is.”
