Climb Over the Doubt
John 20:27 (NIV®)
Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
This is after Jesus’ resurrection, and Thomas is having a hard time believing what he is seeing. “Stop doubting and believe,” Jesus says. Thomas is not the only one who has to grapple with that statement.
Each one of us has to decide whether we think His hands were pierced and His side was opened. We have to decide if we believe He is our resurrected Lord. We have to decide if the salvation He offers is real. And belief is more than a once-in-a-lifetime decision. There will be many times when God’s Word or the Holy Spirit will place you at a crossroads and you will have to choose to believe or not believe. My advice is to climb over the doubt and say, “I choose to believe.” Your life will be changed for good beyond anything you can imagine, both in time and in eternity.
Father, thank You for the gift of Jesus. Holy Spirit, give me greater understanding to see Him not just as a character in the pages of my Bible but as a living reality. Give me the same sense of closeness to Him the disciples felt. I choose to lay aside my worry and anxiety and to trust in Him completely. It’s in the mighty name of Jesus I pray, amen.
