Church with a Capital C
Description
Colossians 1:18 (NIV®)
He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.
Jesus is the Head of the Church. No matter what the sign says, no matter the doctrinal preference or the denominational affiliation, it’s all Jesus’ Church. Local churches are groups of people who have joined their hearts and lives together to seek the Lord, and all of our individual congregations are a part of His Church. We can have different styles of worship and use different translations of the Bible and sit in pews or chairs, but every church should have an awareness of the truth of Jesus and His redemptive work at the center of everything it is and does because, as He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to live among us and die for our sins. Thank You that He established Your Church in the earth. Keep us faithful to Your purposes and free from the distractions of superficial things. May we be worthy of His calling, worthy of bearing His name, until the day of His return. In Jesus’ name, amen.
