Christ Who Loved Me
The cross was very personal to Jesus Christ. Not only because he personally suffered a crucifixion, but he was going through it with you in mind. It is very much like a mother with a baby. The mother may not like the suffering but she is intent upon the birth of the baby. Unlike a mother who does not know what the personality of that baby will be or who that baby really is, Jesus went to the cross with you in mind, with your personality and with who you are on his heart.
20 "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me—(Gal 2:20).
As a result of the cross, we have a wonderfully close connection with Jesus Christ. We have been crucified with him and we are alive with him, but best of all we live under his affection and love. All the benefits received through the cross are benefits affectionately granted by him who loved us.
