Christ Needed to Be Led?
Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit. Luke 4:1
If Christ needed to yield Himself to the Holy Spirit's guidance, then I certainly do.
There are times when I (David) struggle with knowing what my wife needs. She seems so different from me that my own fear of inadequacy hinders me from giving to her. There have been situations where I've literally sat back and scratched my head, having no clue how to meet her needs.
It's at those times that I have needed to ask for the Lord's leadership. I've needed to be led by His Spirit. Day by day I need Him to lead me into wisdom and grace so that I can live out His plan to love my wife as Christ loved the church.
Unfortunately, I often forget about God's available leadership and try to figure things out on my own. I call upon my own "wisdom" and training to get me out of conflicts with Teresa. Instead of calling upon the One who authored the whole idea of marriage, I try to tough it out myself. When I do that, I make a mess of things. But the Lord has been gracious, and when I take the time to seek out His leadership, He always provides. He always shows me exactly what Teresa needs and how I can meet that need.
In what areas of your life do you need to yield to God's leadership?
Father, thank You that You do have a plan for my life and my marriage. May I diligently seek after that plan.
