Choosing the Truth
2 Timothy 4:3 (NIV®)
The time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
We are living in a time when good is called evil and evil is called good. We only have to tune into the day’s news to see it. Accomplished people, successful people, powerful people, educated people, affluent people, give their opinion on things that, from a God perspective, are evil, yet they say they are good. And they look at things God says are good and call them evil. God told us this would happen, not to frighten us but so that we would be prepared. This knowledge has significant implications for us individually, because when there is cultural encouragement that good is evil and evil is good, our choices become very important. There will be momentum for us to ignore God’s invitations and choose evil. Not only will the culture give us permission to do that, it will encourage us to do that. Let’s ignore the voices around us that mock Almighty God and stand firmly on sound doctrine. Let’s choose Jesus.
Heavenly Father, Thank you that you have prepared us in Your word for the things to come. I want to be a light in the darkness. Give me strength to stand strong in Your Word and share it with all who will hear. Help me to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and King in a way that will draw people to Your Kingdom. In the powerful name of Jesus, amen.
