Meet Jouri, an eight-year-old Syrian refugee.

Eight-year-old Jouri, second from right, places a motherly hand on her sister’s shoulder. The girls and their two cousins are among 16 Syrian refugees sharing a two-bedroom apartment in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley.

Of the 2 million refugees who have fled the civil war in Syria for neighboring countries, more than 1 million are children.
