Caught Laughing

Description

Like Sarah, have you ever found yourself laughing at a promise of God?

Genesis 18:12 & 15 (NIV)
(12) So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?”
I have to say, this verse is probably one of my favorites and God’s response is priceless!
(15) Sarah was afraid, so she lied and said, “I did not laugh.” But he said, “Yes, you did laugh.”

Sarah Laughed. She was caught. She was afraid. She lied.

God still blessed.

Have you ever found yourself laughing at a promise of God? Have you been waiting, waiting and waiting with no visible sign of God’s work until finally your inaudible actions begin to speak louder than your faith?

Maybe like Sarah, you think there is a better way (your own way) and at some point you have even removed yourself from the promise in order to wrap your mind around the possibility.

God promised Abram a son, right? Sarah’s clock was ticking so maybe God did not mean for this blessing to include her. So she laughed to herself.  She was throwing in the towel. Tired of hearing the promise. Tired of doing the work. Tired of waiting.

I am not sure about you, but I can relate to Sarah. Sarah was nearly one hundred years old. Her clock was ticking, her body was tired and her promise was still unseen. I am sure she laughed. I am sure she thought it was over. I am sure she felt disappointed and defeated. I’m sure she cried.

She laughed.

She was caught.

She was afraid.

She lied.

God still blessed.

Aren’t you grateful for a God that keeps his promises in spite of our lack of faith?

Don’t throw in the towel.  Don’t look at the possibility of the impossible as an impossible possibility.

God’s promises are true.

What have you stopped believing God to do in your life? For your family?

I pray that God catches us in our laughter.  That He shows us His faithfulness and births new life. A life that will testify to His faithfulness for generations to come!
