Carry Your Load

Christina carries a water jug that’s just the right size to take to school.

Every day she fills her jug with water to take to school and on the water home she fills it again. She walks 6K (3.73 miles) for the roundtrip from her home in Chepoyotwo village in West Pokot, Kenya.

There’s no running water and no latrines at Christina’s school or home, and the dirty water she drinks often make her and her classmates sick.

When they get past lower grades, girls in schools that lack water and toilets often drop out. They may be embarrassed and find it difficult to manage menstruation.

Like Christina, 319 million people in sub-Saharan Africa don’t have access to improved water and sanitation.

World Vision’s Global 6K Walk for Water on May 6 gives you the opportunity to put clean water within reach of more boys and girls who need it.
